001 - Bulbasaur 160px-001Bulbasaur
Bulbasaur: 001 - Bulbasaur Grass001 - Bulbasaur Poison
HP: 45
Attack: 49
Defense: 49
Special Attack: 65
Special Defense: 65
Speed: 45
Abilities: Overgrow / Chlorophyll
Overview: Bulbasaur's Speed boost with Chlorophyll is fantastic, letting it outspeed even +1 Base 65's with a neutral nature. Though Bulbasaur is fast, it doesn't have the same offensive prowess as Bellsprout. Bulbasaur sets itself apart by having slightly bulkier stats and access to some interesting options.

001 - Bulbasaur 1
Set: Speedy Growth
Item: Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
Nature: Timid
IVs: 31 HP / 30 Att / 31 Def / 30 Sp.A / 31 Sp.D / 30 Spe
EVs: 16 HP / 12 Defense / 240 Special Attack / 240 Speed
- Growth
- Sleep Powder / Sludge Bomb
- Giga Drain / Petal Dance / Solar Beam
- Hidden Power [Fire]
Description: With a huge 90 Speed in the sun, a +2 Bulbasaur can threaten weakened teams late game, but Clear Skies support from Vulpix is necessary for this set. A Clear Skies boosted Growth gives Bulbasaur +2 Special Attack, and though it also boosts its Attack, it's shallow physical movepool isn't worth the investment. Even Power Whip is less advantageous as most things it would hit hard have higher Defense than Special Defense. Sleep Powder can neuter a foe quickly, but Sludge Bomb is more helpful to take down Dragon-types. Make sure to pick the right Grass-type STAB attack for your team. Giga Drain will keep Bulbasaur healthy but lacks punch. Petal Dance deals reliable damage, but being stuck with a Grass-type attack isn't very attractive with so many resists, and the following Confusion is more dangerous since Growth increases Bulbasaur's Attack. Solar Beam hits hard but can backfire if Clear Skies suddenly disappears. Hidden Power Fire is important to blast through Steel-, Grass-, and Bug-types and gets a nice boost from the sun. If your team provides Toxic Spikes support as well, Venoshock could be an option in the second slot.

001 - Bulbasaur 1
Set: SubSeed
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Chlorophyll
Nature: Timid
EVs: 196 HP / 76 Special Attack / 236 Speed
- Leech Seed
- Substitute
- Giga Drain
- Sleep Powder / Hidden Power [Fire]
Description: Speedy, solid defenses, and access to just the right kinds of moves makes Bulbasaur a solid SubSeeder. Using the combination of Substitute and Leech Seed, Bulbasaur can stall down threats and hold a defensive edge. Without Clear Skies, Bulbasaur doesn't have the necessary Speed to make full use of this set. Giga Drain is useful to strike at foes and keep Bulbasaur's HP up. Sleep Powder grants additional stalling options but Hidden Power Fire gives Bulbasaur coverage against Grass-types that are immune to Leech Seed. Toxic is another option in the fourth slot, but doing so would give Bulbasaur no options agianst Ferroseed.
